2012 Carriage Trade Equestrian Hunt January 1-21

2012 Carriage Trade Equestrian Hunt January 1-21

Thank you for your interest in the Carriage Trade Equestrian Hunt, presented by the owner of Carriage Trade, an Equestrian Lifestyle Estate.

The Equestrian Hunt begins on December 1st and runs through midnight on December 21st. Hunters are seeking 20 Horseshoe objects, each containing one or more Equestrian-themed items. The Horseshoes are hidden throughout our estate, which includes Carriage Trade and Carriage Trade North. They may be hidden in shops, public areas or parks, which may include the public areas of the livery and the Welcome Area. They will NOT be hidden in residents’ homes or stalls, so please do not enter residents’ homes or stalls. Repeat: no Horseshoes are hidden in any private homes, stables or stalls.

To hunt successfully, select the Horseshoe and ‘buy’ it for 0L. You will receive a folder cleverly named ‘Object’ in your Inventory.

While you are hunting, please behave with decorum and respect to all visitors and residents. Please do not harass the staff of Carriage Trade during your hunt. We have created lovely prize items, we know you want them, but it takes our joy out of doing the hunt if we are harassed or if you complain about the prizes. If they are not to your taste, you may always leave and discontinue the hunt.

Please do not harass the residents or visitors to Carriage Trade. We seek to keep everyone comfortable whether visiting or living here. Carriage Trade is a roleplay estate, and we ask that you comply with our dress code while visiting with us. We have several appropriate outfits available free of charge in our free roleplay mall the Welcome Area.

While you are in our estate, please observe the following rules: NO nudity. NO profanity. NO sexual roleplay of any kind. NO begging for sex, money, or anything else. NO age play. NO wearable horses. NO children, fantasy or anthro avatars (this means no furries, dragons, etc.). NO weapons or violence of any sort. While in general, we warn visitors once if they are transgressing and send them home, we do eject and ban if our requests are not met. Thank you, and have a happy and fun hunt!

Here are the hunt hints:

1. No, really, I’m welcoming!
2. I’m weighting down the Travelers

New in the Tack Room @ Carriage Trade: Candy Coats for the Water Horse Avatar

Carriage Trade’s Candy Coats for the Water Horse avatar are a new hand painted series of coat textures for the Water Horse avatars.   Handpainted shadows and highlights give new definition to the avatar.

The coats are delivered via script, each carefully labeled for ease of use.  Scripts are no mod, copy, no transfer.  Each script will retexture the appropriate body part and set the various parameters – all you need to do is drop them in, following our simple instructions. No more fussing with manual changes to your avatar parts, just drop, touch, and go!

For Candy Coats to give you best results, you MUST know how to edit prims. No customer support is available for this. If you need to know how to edit prims, please see the Second Life Wiki or visit Builder’s Brewery, where basic editing classes are taught.

Candy Coats are  available in:
Pleasing Peppermint, Twisted Licorice Heaven, Orange Dreamsicle, Dark Chocolate Mocha Swirl, Butterscotch Brownie, Marshmallow Splendor, and, Luscious Lemon Lollipop, in addition to Quest and Hunt coats.

**Using your Carriage Trade Candy Coat Scripts**

The Carriage Trade Candy Coats are a new, hand painted series of coat textures for the Water Horse avatars.

The textures are delivered via scripts, which will both retexture as well as change the orientation/angle/repeat/offset of the texture on the selected body part.  The scripts are designed to self-delete as soon as they have done this, so you do not have additional laggy scripts running.  If you do not like a face or leg marking, just keep dropping scripts into the part till you find something you like.

What is in your package:
Notecard, boxed backup scripts, and scripts for each of the parts of your Water Horse avatar.

********Using your scripts to color your avatar*************

1. Rez out all of your parts of your avatar.

2.  Open an Edit window (Control-3) and click the “Edit Linked Parts” box.

4. Select ONLY the prim you want to retexture and carefully drag the matching script into the folder in the Content tab of the prim. This is particularly important with the Ears, Jaw, and Head/Neck/Eyes.

5.  Touch the prim. The script will instantly retexture the prim and change the offsets and repeats and delete itself. Don’t worry if you don’t see it in the prim, it did what it was supposed to do!

6. Rename your prim parts to the color, and take back into inventory.

7. Wear your new coat!

*****Mistakes will happen********
But don’t worry. The scripts are copiable, so you can make mistakes and just go back and fix it.

Watch out that you don’t just ‘drop’ the script onto a link set. It will retexture the root prim (whatever that is) but it may or may not retexture the prim you wanted to have retextured.

Also, work on ‘ground’ not on another prim.

Announcing the Interactive Arabian Tack Set for the Water Horse Avatar

Interactive Arabian Tack Set

Carriage Trade is pleased to announce the introduction of the interactive Arabian Nights tack set!

Simple and easy to use, our Interactive Arabian Nights set  takes roleplay to new levels.  the Arabian Nights set includes an interactive bridle, saddle and saddle bags, all with simple touch technology!

Saddles & Bridles both feature interactive capabilities that let the rider interact easily and quickly with the saddled and bridled horse.   Touch each of the parts (Saddle, Bridle or Saddlebags)  for a menu of options.  You can roleplay stealing the horse or a gem from its harness, tacking or untacking, and even removing its saddle & bridle, without the horse’s help!  Saddlebags include roleplay items that can be obtained from the bags, such as a gemstone, a spell book, a load of bread, and more. Horses can choose to let riders interact with them or not, and can even block riders from interacting with their saddle or bridle!

The Carriage Trade Interactive Arabian Nights Tack set comes in 14 different colors, with custom textures created especially for this release.  The sets have been developed for the Water Horse Arabian mod and the Breeder’s Choice Arabian Mod.

Saddles, bridles and saddlebags may be modified and copied, so you can easily change  aspects to the sets.  Saddles attach tot he stomach, bridles to the mouth, and saddle bags to the chest. All three may be worn at once, or in combinations.

The scripting is no mod, no transfer, and there are only three scripts in the set!

Come pick up your set at Carriage Trade.

Carriage Trade: Equestrian Lifestyle for Horse and Rider

Announcing the Re-Opening of the Cross-Country Course

The newly redesigned cross-country course in Carriage Trade's Northampton region promises to challenge and delight horse and rider alike.

We are pleased to announce that the Carriage Trade cross country course has been redesigned and is open for use!

What has been changed: the course is now longer and more complicated and includes ten more jumps for a total of thirty hurdles.  The fences themselves are more complicated and in some cases more challenging. The course will require practice to obtain a clean round at speed.

The fences themselves are marked and numbered.  To know if you are on course, simply observe the flag marks: Numbered white markers are to the left and numbered green markers to the right of the obstacle if you are jumping in the correct direction.

The first fence on the Carriage Trade cross-country course is deceptively easy.

Using the timer on the course:

Start the timer, and then gallop through the STARTING line.  Make sure you jump your horse through the markers (not to one side) to make sure your horse is marked as completing that fence.  Faults on fences will be automatically counted by the timer. Finish the course by galloping through the FINISH line. You can see your final time, score, and completed fences on the timing board near the start line.

Other changes to the region:

We have removed almost all of the sculpted grass and cattails. As beautiful as they were, they contributed greatly to lag, particularly at some of the critical turning points in the course. Since removing these patches, lag has noticeably eased in these areas.

You also note that there is special ‘splashy’ water at various parts of the course, and in the small swan pond in the center of the region. This water has been scripted to interact with some new roleplay products we will be released in the near future. This water has also been installed in North and Royal.

Finally, we have removed Sheffield and replaced it with a small village (Land’s End) and some small cottages designed to support roleplay in the estate. More on that tomorrow.

Northampton is now open to play. Have fun!
