This Week in Carriage Trade

New in the Tack Room:

Interactive English Sets for Light Horses – but these are even MORE special, because these are the long-awaited Interactive English Sets. The note card describing everything that is in  them is attached, but suffice it to say this is one of our biggest developments in the creation of interactive tack ever. With a texture, color, shine, and resizing HUD; built-in roleplay gestures; full interactivity to allow a rider to tack and untack their horse; plus chat commands to extend the use of the set, including two bridle options, and a scripted halter. This is an exceptional set that includes 12 colors, 4 metal options and 8 wool options, all in a single, beautifully developed set.

The set is available in Carriage Trade, the Water Horse sim, and SL Marketplace. Pony set to follow soon!

Also, 3 NEW texture HUDs for your Interactive English sets: Pastel, Pretty in Pink and Gothic.  All have 12 unique leathers, 4 unique metals, and 8 unique wools, so there is no overlap between any of the sets, including the ‘Basic’ pack that comes with your tack!

Here’s a video showing the Pretty in Pink set in action.

Announcing the Interactive Arabian Tack Set for the Water Horse Avatar

Interactive Arabian Tack Set

Carriage Trade is pleased to announce the introduction of the interactive Arabian Nights tack set!

Simple and easy to use, our Interactive Arabian Nights set  takes roleplay to new levels.  the Arabian Nights set includes an interactive bridle, saddle and saddle bags, all with simple touch technology!

Saddles & Bridles both feature interactive capabilities that let the rider interact easily and quickly with the saddled and bridled horse.   Touch each of the parts (Saddle, Bridle or Saddlebags)  for a menu of options.  You can roleplay stealing the horse or a gem from its harness, tacking or untacking, and even removing its saddle & bridle, without the horse’s help!  Saddlebags include roleplay items that can be obtained from the bags, such as a gemstone, a spell book, a load of bread, and more. Horses can choose to let riders interact with them or not, and can even block riders from interacting with their saddle or bridle!

The Carriage Trade Interactive Arabian Nights Tack set comes in 14 different colors, with custom textures created especially for this release.  The sets have been developed for the Water Horse Arabian mod and the Breeder’s Choice Arabian Mod.

Saddles, bridles and saddlebags may be modified and copied, so you can easily change  aspects to the sets.  Saddles attach tot he stomach, bridles to the mouth, and saddle bags to the chest. All three may be worn at once, or in combinations.

The scripting is no mod, no transfer, and there are only three scripts in the set!

Come pick up your set at Carriage Trade.

The Carriage Trade Interactive Arabian Nights Tack set come in Black, Brown, Autumn, Gold, White, Cream, Grey,  Green, Teal, Blue, Red, Wine, Purple, and Pink.

The Carriage Trade Roleplay System

Enough of you have asked about this that it is time for a post about it.

Our really big development that we are working on right now is the installation of our new roleplay system. Powered by the Honour Roleplay System, Carriage Trade will soon have its own special horse-centric roleplay system.  Some of you may have seen a series of display boards in the Tack Room. These display boards are the initial visible cusp of a a project that we anticipate will be fun and exciting for everyone: namely, the installation of a new roleplay system for Carriage Trade.

Let us quickly reassure everyone that it is not a mandatory system by any means, and no one will be required to be ‘in character’ unless they want to be.  This system is immensely flexible and can provide a good RP skeleton for those who want to use that way. For others, it can be used as a s single-player game. And still others can simply ignore the whole thing, and go on about their business.

Non-residents can use the system, as well. However, they will be not be able to use components of the system, such as the Livery, Prestige Royal Foalery or the Royal Mews, which may require land group rights.

Why are we adding this system:

Many reasons, not least of which is that it adds a fun layer of interactivity to the region and provides a nice way for newcomers to interact with our existing community.  We have been looking for a commendation system to allow humans to effectively compliment a horse if that horse gave them a nice ride.  The Honour Roleplay System that we obtained at the Relay For Life auction does all this and much, much more.  However, it is complicated enough that we will be rolling out the system in layers.

Here are some of the things we can do with it:

1. Collect things that can be used to trade for other things, including RP services (farrier, vet, etc), rent or payment for things like the Livery service or the Royal Mews or the Foalery,  AND actual in-world goods (such as special tack and carriages ONLY available in the system).
2. Create quests and games within games.
3. Offer a commendation system for riders to reward their horses; or horses to reward their riders.
4. Create chores that provide the laborer  with tokens and resources to use in other parts of the system.
5. Create classes & subclasses of roleplay characters to enable richer interaction.
6. Add damage ability, so that different subclasses of characters can be damaged differently by other subclasses. This means that horses can inflict damage by biting, striking and kicking; owls, dogs, foxes and cats can all hunt, wound and kill or be hunted, wounded and killed, and so on.
7. Add healing and curative abilities to the appropriate subclasses so that wounded foxes can be cured; lame horses can be healed, and so on.
8. Add competition capabilities: We obviously don’t need sword play, but we can hunt for foxes, compete in shows, and so on. A big part of our competition will include training!

And remember: NONE of this is mandatory. If you hate games or roleplay, just ignore it all and go on about your business just as you do now. We won’t be insisting on anyone living in emote-land, by any means!

For those of you who want to play, we’ll be calling for testers as we roll out levels. At the moment, we’re testing collectibles in the Royal region (only).  Feel free to hunt the region in search of Salt, Apples, Herbs, Ore, and Coal; all of which you may collect as many of as you wish. You don’t even need a HUD, pouch or meter!

How can you help?

TEST!  hunt down those pesky collectibles over in Royal. Let us know if they don’t chat a message to you when you click it.

FEEDBACK! Go look at the classes and subclasses of characters listed.  Think we should add something? Please keep in mind there is an ecosystem so that every sort of subclass interacts in different ways with other subclasses, so we won’t be interested in adding, say, a Pirate subclass to our roleplay ecosystem.

Then, feed it back: note cards in world work best; comments are fine,  and even an IM if you will.

You Are Invited: Our Second Life Birthday 8 Exhibit

The Carriage Trade SL8B Exhibit in Second Life!

Hey folks! It’s that time once again, when Second Life is celebrating its anniversary!

We have a lovely exhibit at the SL8B celebrations, on the Stunning region. Our exhibit is a miniature version of Carriage Trade and we are celebrating the magical, majestic horses of Second Life.

We're showcasing the Royal Weddings, too!

We would like to invite all of you to come and participate in the exhibit, by riding on the carousel, ‘performing’ as a circus horse, posing on the Cinderella Carriage photo op, standing in the stall, or simply lounging under the apple tree.

Our Carousel @ SL8B

We have many fun gifts hidden away in the exhibit, such as in the windfall apples, the tack trunk, and more. We are participating in the Octoberville hunt. And we’ve added a lot of interactivity including an Eye Visit mini-tour of the exhibit. And we’ve even left enough prim allowance and space to be able to rez out carriages!

The stable display...check out the slide show!

The exhibit opens at 10 am  SLT on Monday, June 20th. We won’t schedule people and horses to be there, (nightmare!) but come on by and hang out, and meet new people.  There’s always a big crowd on the first day and then things get a bit less hectic. We’ll also plan some fun driving events, since when else willw e get 21 regions laid out so ideally for driving?

Take a video tour by sitting on the camera, and then take pictures of a friend on the Cinderella photoopp!

When you come: please make sure you have reduced the scripts in your avatar. Also, once you step off our plot, you should remove your sound attachment, because scripts don’t work on the walkways and your sound attachment will become ‘stuck’ on whatever gait you were in when you left the plot.

Here are the important dates:

June 20—10:00 a.m. SLT: Gates open to the public!
June 23—The Birthday! Special ceremonies included!
June 26—Last day of entertainment.
July 2—Gates close at 11:59 p.m. SLT

Changes to the Saturday Marketplace

Effective immediately, we are making the Marketplace spots available for a full-time market place with spaces limited to residents only.

You may choose one booth, and have up to 10 prims in the booth.  All prims/vendors must fit inside the booth.  No glow or particle effects. The booths are available for a 10% commission; any resident can apply for a booth spot.

To reserve a booth, just place a 2m wide x 2m high x .1 m prim colored black with your name in the object description field.  Then send a note card to Shenlei Flasheart and include the name of your store + the products you wish to sell.  Booths are first come, first serve.
