This Week in Carriage Trade

New in the Tack Room:

Interactive English Sets for Light Horses – but these are even MORE special, because these are the long-awaited Interactive English Sets. The note card describing everything that is in  them is attached, but suffice it to say this is one of our biggest developments in the creation of interactive tack ever. With a texture, color, shine, and resizing HUD; built-in roleplay gestures; full interactivity to allow a rider to tack and untack their horse; plus chat commands to extend the use of the set, including two bridle options, and a scripted halter. This is an exceptional set that includes 12 colors, 4 metal options and 8 wool options, all in a single, beautifully developed set.

The set is available in Carriage Trade, the Water Horse sim, and SL Marketplace. Pony set to follow soon!

Also, 3 NEW texture HUDs for your Interactive English sets: Pastel, Pretty in Pink and Gothic.  All have 12 unique leathers, 4 unique metals, and 8 unique wools, so there is no overlap between any of the sets, including the ‘Basic’ pack that comes with your tack!

Here’s a video showing the Pretty in Pink set in action.

Announcing the Re-Opening of the Cross-Country Course

The newly redesigned cross-country course in Carriage Trade's Northampton region promises to challenge and delight horse and rider alike.

We are pleased to announce that the Carriage Trade cross country course has been redesigned and is open for use!

What has been changed: the course is now longer and more complicated and includes ten more jumps for a total of thirty hurdles.  The fences themselves are more complicated and in some cases more challenging. The course will require practice to obtain a clean round at speed.

The fences themselves are marked and numbered.  To know if you are on course, simply observe the flag marks: Numbered white markers are to the left and numbered green markers to the right of the obstacle if you are jumping in the correct direction.

The first fence on the Carriage Trade cross-country course is deceptively easy.

Using the timer on the course:

Start the timer, and then gallop through the STARTING line.  Make sure you jump your horse through the markers (not to one side) to make sure your horse is marked as completing that fence.  Faults on fences will be automatically counted by the timer. Finish the course by galloping through the FINISH line. You can see your final time, score, and completed fences on the timing board near the start line.

Other changes to the region:

We have removed almost all of the sculpted grass and cattails. As beautiful as they were, they contributed greatly to lag, particularly at some of the critical turning points in the course. Since removing these patches, lag has noticeably eased in these areas.

You also note that there is special ‘splashy’ water at various parts of the course, and in the small swan pond in the center of the region. This water has been scripted to interact with some new roleplay products we will be released in the near future. This water has also been installed in North and Royal.

Finally, we have removed Sheffield and replaced it with a small village (Land’s End) and some small cottages designed to support roleplay in the estate. More on that tomorrow.

Northampton is now open to play. Have fun!

New Things @ Carriage Trade

We added a new region, Carriage Trade Royal, which has been largely landscaped and subdivided. There are mini stables on both the eastern and western sides of the region; the western side of the region also has house/stable estates. You will notice there is new set of stalls, the Royal Mews Stable, which will be opened later in the month (more on that later). The Chateau will be available for wedding rentals, and there is a special mare & foal turnout that will be added as well. The central area will remain largely parkland that may be repurposed for events.

Secondly, we’ve begun renovating Carriage Trade North. The western and eastern sides of the region have been renovated.  We added a village of small cottages (Gretna Green) to replace Saratoga.  Gretna Green also contains a blacksmith crafting site to be incorporated with the future roleplay system.  Additional plans are in the works for the central portion of the region.

We have added a chariot racing course in a version of the Circus Maxiumus.  There is a teleporter to take you up; it’s a little tricky so follow the instructions carefully. The teleporter is located on Market Street against the Tack Room wall.

We have appointed Moonsorrow Magic as our Head of Security here @ Carriage Trade. Moon’s role is to oversee possible security issues. Please see Moon if you have a stalker or any similar concern.

We have appointed Tyr Fluffy as Livery Lead. Tyr will be responsible for checking in new livery horses, training them on livery and carriage courses, defining new livery and carriage courses and training Wedding Leads. Please see Tyr if you wish to be registered as a livery horse and make sure you are checked in. She will begin training on the new livery and carriage routes in the next week.

We are developing a series of historically accurate and interactive carts/carriages/wagons.  We’ve moved them into a larger version of the Tack Room and will be putting them on rezzers for better shopping. Lastly, we have a Midnight Mania Board in the Tack Room.
