October Treasure Hunts in Carriage Trade

Carriage Trade is participating in the following Treasure Hunts in the month of October:

Carriage Trade’s Pumpkin Hunt:

20 pumpkins hidden in the 3 regions of the Carriage Trade estate, each containing pumpkin themed items for horses & humans. You can see 2 of the prizes for this hunt at Sweet Deb Kip’s blog.

Pumpkin Prints Hunt 3: October 1-31. You can see the prize for this hunt at Sweetdeb Kips’ blog.

Crystal Woods Promotions Black Cat Hunt: October 1-31. And again, the prize at Sweet Deb Kips’ blog.

Starting mid-month:

Season’s Palette: October 20th -November 20th.

The Season’s Palette Hunt will be holding it’s first grid-wide hunt on October 20, 2011 to November 20, 2011. The aim of this hunt is to create or produce a hunt item that demonstrates the season’s trendy colors.

The season’s colors, “Autumn’s Honeysuckles,” are based on trendy colors used by RL top designers (eg. Chris Benz) in their Autumn’ 11 collection. The designers and content creators participating in the hunt are encouraged to incorporate 3 colors from the season’s color palette.

Greatest Love’s Boo-tiful Disaster, October 22nd -November 5th.

Carriage Trade Monthly Hunts: Open to Outside Merchants!

Every month in the Carriage Trade estate, we hold a 3-week long themed treasure hunt, with 20-themed prizes hidden around our estate.  These are very popular hunts, and with every hunt we add new hunters.

Although in the past we’ve provided prizes ourselves,we have recently opted  to allow other, off-estate merchants to participate in these hunts.

Our upcoming themes are as follows:
October – Pumpkin Hunt. Pumpkin themed items.
November – Harvest Hunt. Things with a harvest twist.
December – Holly Hunt. Things with a Holly theme.

Why would a merchant want to participate?

For exposure to a new, monetized market.  Our estate is unique in that it is an upscale equestrian lifestyle roleplay estate, with a monetized audience eager for the latest, high quality goods.  We find that the hunts are very ‘sticky’, with participants completing the entire hunt and returning repeatedly until they find all of the prizes. Our hunts are widely publicized to our mailing list of 4,500 contacts; on our blog and other hunt blogs,  within our estate itself, and in the Second Life.com events listings.   The estate itself is advertised in upscale specialty publications in the physical world, which in turn brings new traffic.  Lastly, our estate participates in additional outside hunts per month, which brings additional traffic to the region.   On average, there are between 75-100 new visitors/region to our estate every day.

How do the hunts work?

Accepted merchants create an appropriately themed, boxed prize, bring it to our estate and place it in a hunt glyph that has already been hidden. Our estate handles the rest: managing the hunt, hints, Pr/marketing.

How does a merchant participate?

1.  Apply: Create a new notecard, name it ‘CT Hunt Application – Your Business – Your Name’, copy and paste the application information in the attached note card, and add your details to it.  Send the completed notecard  to Shenlei Flasheart.􀀁

2. Once accepted, you will be sent a URL where you can pick which hunts, the position(s) in the hunt, and schedule a drop off time.

3. Have your prize ready and be available at your scheduled drop off time, be ready for your teleport invitation, purchase your icon and fill it. No need for a land group slot, no muss, no fuss.

4. Want it blogged? Send us a pretty picture of the hunt prize along with a paragraph about it and your business, and we’ll blog it on our web site at Carriagetradeinsl.com.

How many times can a merchant participate, and what if there aren’t any ‘good’ spots left?

Merchants are limited to no more than 2 spots per hunt. They may participate in every hunt. The limiting factor, of course, is that all prizes must conform to the theme, and the quality must be maintained.  Position in each hunt is first come, first serve, but unlike grid wide hunts, what we find is that because our hunts are contained, the position in the hunt is less important because hunters don’t lose interest. But of course, the best way to ensure you get the ‘spot’ you want is to get your application in quickly! First come, first choice!

Merchants who would like to sponsor an entire hunt, please  ask!

Is there a cost to participate?

Yes, each position in each hunt costs $200L. You ‘purchase’ a pre-hidden hunt glyph at the time when you go to hide your prize in the glyph, so if you need to drop out prior to the start of the hunt there’s no financial loss to you.

How can you assure me that the hunt will happen?

We’ve done these hunts every  month since February 2010.  Whether or not other merchants are participating, we always have a full roster of hunt prizes that we have ready to go and install.

Are there prize guidelines?

Yes. Carriage Trade is a PG estate, so no adult or sexualized content.  This  is also a  RP estate with limits to the types and sorts of avatars who may enter, so content for neko/furry/kiddy or similar avatars isn’t suitable. No BBIAB or reseller content is allowed. And of course, ripped content or content reflecting other people’s trademarks or copyrights is not allowed and will be immediately removed.  Our residents are ardent consumers of quality lifestyle products to decorate their homes and stables and makers of quality content are likely to find themselves rewarded with loyal customers.

Can we visit the estate first?

By all means, we encourage and welcome visitors. Please follow this link!

Best regards,

Shenei Flasheart
