2012 Carriage Trade Equestrian Hunt January 1-21

2012 Carriage Trade Equestrian Hunt January 1-21

Thank you for your interest in the Carriage Trade Equestrian Hunt, presented by the owner of Carriage Trade, an Equestrian Lifestyle Estate.

The Equestrian Hunt begins on December 1st and runs through midnight on December 21st. Hunters are seeking 20 Horseshoe objects, each containing one or more Equestrian-themed items. The Horseshoes are hidden throughout our estate, which includes Carriage Trade and Carriage Trade North. They may be hidden in shops, public areas or parks, which may include the public areas of the livery and the Welcome Area. They will NOT be hidden in residents’ homes or stalls, so please do not enter residents’ homes or stalls. Repeat: no Horseshoes are hidden in any private homes, stables or stalls.

To hunt successfully, select the Horseshoe and ‘buy’ it for 0L. You will receive a folder cleverly named ‘Object’ in your Inventory.

While you are hunting, please behave with decorum and respect to all visitors and residents. Please do not harass the staff of Carriage Trade during your hunt. We have created lovely prize items, we know you want them, but it takes our joy out of doing the hunt if we are harassed or if you complain about the prizes. If they are not to your taste, you may always leave and discontinue the hunt.

Please do not harass the residents or visitors to Carriage Trade. We seek to keep everyone comfortable whether visiting or living here. Carriage Trade is a roleplay estate, and we ask that you comply with our dress code while visiting with us. We have several appropriate outfits available free of charge in our free roleplay mall the Welcome Area.

While you are in our estate, please observe the following rules: NO nudity. NO profanity. NO sexual roleplay of any kind. NO begging for sex, money, or anything else. NO age play. NO wearable horses. NO children, fantasy or anthro avatars (this means no furries, dragons, etc.). NO weapons or violence of any sort. While in general, we warn visitors once if they are transgressing and send them home, we do eject and ban if our requests are not met. Thank you, and have a happy and fun hunt!

Here are the hunt hints:

New in the Tack Room @ Carriage Trade: Candy Coats for the Water Horse Avatar

Carriage Trade’s Candy Coats for the Water Horse avatar are a new hand painted series of coat textures for the Water Horse avatars.   Handpainted shadows and highlights give new definition to the avatar.

The coats are delivered via script, each carefully labeled for ease of use.  Scripts are no mod, copy, no transfer.  Each script will retexture the appropriate body part and set the various parameters – all you need to do is drop them in, following our simple instructions. No more fussing with manual changes to your avatar parts, just drop, touch, and go!

For Candy Coats to give you best results, you MUST know how to edit prims. No customer support is available for this. If you need to know how to edit prims, please see the Second Life Wiki or visit Builder’s Brewery, where basic editing classes are taught.

Candy Coats are  available in:
Pleasing Peppermint, Twisted Licorice Heaven, Orange Dreamsicle, Dark Chocolate Mocha Swirl, Butterscotch Brownie, Marshmallow Splendor, and, Luscious Lemon Lollipop, in addition to Quest and Hunt coats.

**Using your Carriage Trade Candy Coat Scripts**

The Carriage Trade Candy Coats are a new, hand painted series of coat textures for the Water Horse avatars.

The textures are delivered via scripts, which will both retexture as well as change the orientation/angle/repeat/offset of the texture on the selected body part.  The scripts are designed to self-delete as soon as they have done this, so you do not have additional laggy scripts running.  If you do not like a face or leg marking, just keep dropping scripts into the part till you find something you like.

What is in your package:
Notecard, boxed backup scripts, and scripts for each of the parts of your Water Horse avatar.

********Using your scripts to color your avatar*************

1. Rez out all of your parts of your avatar.

2.  Open an Edit window (Control-3) and click the “Edit Linked Parts” box.

4. Select ONLY the prim you want to retexture and carefully drag the matching script into the folder in the Content tab of the prim. This is particularly important with the Ears, Jaw, and Head/Neck/Eyes.

5.  Touch the prim. The script will instantly retexture the prim and change the offsets and repeats and delete itself. Don’t worry if you don’t see it in the prim, it did what it was supposed to do!

6. Rename your prim parts to the color, and take back into inventory.

7. Wear your new coat!

*****Mistakes will happen********
But don’t worry. The scripts are copiable, so you can make mistakes and just go back and fix it.

Watch out that you don’t just ‘drop’ the script onto a link set. It will retexture the root prim (whatever that is) but it may or may not retexture the prim you wanted to have retextured.

Also, work on ‘ground’ not on another prim.

Tour of New Equestrian Lifestyle Game in Carriage Trade

Please join us as we tour the new equestrian RP game in Carriage Trade. The game uses a flexible, easy to install game engine, the Honor Engine. The Honor Engine recently received a ScienceSim land grant to port the system to OpenSim. We’ve installed the system in SL to showcase its ease of use.

The Honor Engine can easily be used to develop simple-to-complex educational games.

Oopen beta of the new equestrian lifestyle horse game at Carriage Trade begins this weekend. The game is free to play and full of great prizes, free form roleplay and best of all, horses!

We will be touring the different roleplay facilities and explaining some of the activities you can experience in Carriage Trade.

Please make sure you observe our Roleplay Dress Code (available at the entrance) and put a visitor titler on.

Be a horse, be a vet, be a farrier, be a rider, be an herbalist, be a fox, dog or owl…just be there!

We will have open to the public tours Saturday @ 10 am SLT Sunday @ 1 pm SLT

Meet at the welcome area and don’t be late! Carriages depart promptly!

Livery Training Times Announced

Tyr Fluffy, Carriage Trade Livery Lead, has announced new training times for those horses who wish to provide Livery service. All Livery horses must complete training before they will receive an active livery board, whether they are serving as Livery horses in Game or for visitors.

The posted training times are as follows:

  • Sundays from 2-3 pm SLT
  • Thursdays from 7-8 pm SLT

Please meet at the Carriage Trade Livery for these training classes.

Round Two of Carriage Trade RP Game Beta Testing

Round Two has started, and our thanks to everyone who participated in Round #1!

Round One helped us iron out a few wrinkles in the existing Carriage Trade RP Game.

For Round #2, we have added more new features, including Owl, and Dog chores; a full line of Herbalist activities; a farmstand; and changes to the bakery and the Apothecary.  We have also retired some of the trade goods so please trot by the Registrar’s office and trade in your retired trade goods for active trade goods.

Retired trade goods include: Corn Cob, Corn Meal, Vial of Lavender Oil, Vial of Tea Tree Oil, Devil’s Claw, Vial of Eucalyptus Oil,  Cake of Beeswax, Vial of Pennyroyal Oil, Jar of Leather Balm. If you have any of these items in your RP Game inventory, please exchange them in the red box marked Temporary Banker.

In your previous quest for round one, you were asked to complete a series of chores and task and then to create trade goods which you then traded to a Prize Winner vendor to obtain a cart.  While this quest will remain active until we conclude the testing, we now have a newer, better quest for you…

Introducing, Quest #2:

Mr. Wheeler, the Carriage Showroom Associate, has a well-known sweet tooth. Unfortunately, his sweet tooth has caught up with him, and now he has a toothache.  He has told you that if you bring him something for both his sweet tooth, and his toothache, he’ll cut you a GREAT deal on a brand new Calache carriage for a draft horse.  He’s even made it easy for you, and can give you a list of what he’s willing to accept in the way of Trade Goods.

Your mission is to obtain the list of Trade Goods + Coin that Mr. Wheeler will accept, and to obtain the Trade Goods + Coin (by honest labor, gathering, trade, or theft) and bring those to back to the special Quest Vendor marked Prize Winner located int he Carriage Showroom, and trade them to obtain your new Caleche.

OMG, you say but how do I FIND all this stuff? Ask your friends and other residents and get clicky.  Click, click, click. There’s a great deal of interactivity in Carriage Trade and more coming. We won’t tell you how to find everything you need; just use your common sense and think it through – where would you find an apple pie; how would you obtain special spices; where might you find metal work or bees wax?  and above all, have fun with it.

What’s that? you like Quests and you want MOAR?  OK, no problem. If you visit the Tack Room, near the Midnight Mania boards, you will find four vendors that are set up to accept Coin or Coin + Trade Good combinations.  Figure out the best option for you and then go get what you need to trade Coin and Trade Goods to these special vendors for your OWN Second Life copies of the carriages to use anywhere in Second Life that you wish.

Currently the Sub Quest prizes include a LH Singleton Chariot, a LG Singleton Buggy, a Pair Covered Wagon, and a Victoria Cart for the Pony.

Did you miss out on the meter release on Monday, September 5th? No problem. We will be metering the next round of beta testers on Tuesday, September 6th, at 5:30 pm SLT at the Registrar’s in Fox Hill.

See you there, and have fun!

The Carriage Trade Roleplay Ecosystem: Horses

Carriage Trade enables roleplay for standard horse classes. The Carriage Trade community does allow two specific fantasy horse classes, but within the roleplay system no allowance or subclass is made for these sorts of horses.

Horses are not broken down by breed, but rather by training & weight, so that a player may create a character of whatever age, breed, or color they wish.

Status within the game is determined by Levels, Accomplishments, and Wins. Levels are achieved through passage of time, accrual of experience, accrual of wealth, specific Accomplishments and Wins.

Game status is unrelated to region authority.

Appearance & tack are determined by the subclass (Training Style) to which the player belongs, and the activity in which the player is engaged.  Horses are expected to be correctly turned out when working with their Riders, particularly in Competitive situations; likewise, Horses are expected to wear Tack appropriate to their chosen role, particularly when present in a roleplay facility.

Horses are the fastest class in the Carriage Trade system. They are the top-level weight class, being heavier than all other classes.   Horses have natural defensive weaponry (hind hooves, front hooves, teeth) with which they may inflict damage to other classes up to unconsciousness and temporary death. Horses may receive damage from other classes and subclasses and Horses which show themselves to be overly vicious may be sent away.

Horses may feed themselves through Chores or they may rely on their Human partners to feed them. Horses must seek medical treatment and care from the Veterinarian and performance enhancers from the Herbalist; shoes and hoof care from the Farrier; grooming from the Stablehand; and training from the Rider.

Horses provide livery saddle and carriage service to Humans and may serve in the Livery stable and receive both game token and in-world payment form riders.

Competition requires a willing Human partner or partners.
